Geometry & Trigonometry
Area, volume, right triangles, and circles. The smallest math category on the test but still worth knowing cold.
Area & Volume
The Power Rule: memorize 1-2-3. Side (k), area (k^2), volume (k^3).
Surface area uses k^2, just like regular area.
Grid-in answers can only have five characters including the decimal point.
Use the reference sheet, but rely on conceptual stacking logic for hard questions.
Lines, Angles & Triangles
Interior angle sum of a polygon: (n - 2) x 180 degrees.
Altitude = Height: the word "altitude" is just another term for the height of a triangle.
The 1-2-3 Rule: side scale factor k, area k^2, volume k^3.
"Is/Was" = equals for all word problem translations.
Right Triangles & Trigonometry
Desmos can handle trig identities. Type them in and compare to answer choices to find equivalents.
The reference sheet is built in. Pythagorean Theorem and Special Right Triangle ratios are available in the testing software.
Altitude = Height. If you see "altitude," it forms a right angle with the base.
"Is/Was" = equals for all word-to-math translations.
Circles
Arc angle = central angle. If asked for the "arc angle," it is the same number as the central angle.
Minor arc = smaller section. Major arc = larger section.
Draw every possible radius when stuck on a circle question. This almost always reveals an isosceles triangle or a common length.
Numerical grid-in answers can only be five characters including the decimal point.
